Hybrid Online EMT Basic Course

EMS is a high-stakes profession and in this course, we have high expectations for your work.

Completing the following assignments in order will help you master objectives that will be critical to prepare you for the NREMT exam.

Please follow the steps below to get started. If you need help along the way contact course support at courses@socalemt.training or your instructor (instructor can be emailed within the course).

Please Note: Entire course (online portion, successful completion of final exam and skills evaluation, and ride-along) must be completed within 364 days from time of purchase.

Skills Practice: One 4-hour practice session is mandatory and must be completed prior to the written final exam. Please email courses@socalemt.training to schedule a session any time after completion of Chapter 36 in the course.

When you have finished completing this online portion of the course, email courses@socalemt.training to schedule written final exam, skills evaluation and clinical hours.

Homework Icon Chapter Reading: Begin by reading the chapter content in your eText. The eText that accompanies this MyLab includes special features designed to enhance student learning, such as audio reviews and insights, dynamic animations and several interactive review sections and activities throughout each chapter.

Homework Icon Chapter Review Audio: Listen to author, Dan Limmer, review the chapter's key concepts.

Quiz Icon Pretest: Once you've read the chapter, check your understanding by taking a Chapter Pretest.

Homework Icon Homework: After you complete the Chapter Pretest, your personalized Homework Assignment will be unlocked.

The homework will only cover objectives you did not master in the pretest. If you get stuck, use the study aids to the left of the homework problems. You will not be able to proceed until you’ve earned at least an 80% on your homework.

Chapter Test: Each chapter test has two (2) attempts. Students must score an 80% or better to move to the next chapter. If you do not pass your first attempt, scroll to the bottom of the score page and click on the study plan before retaking the chapter test.  If you do not achieve an 80% on your second attempt, you will be locked out of the course until you email the address above and request to talk to an instructor. They will go over the chapter with you over the phone prior to resetting for additional attempts.

Learning Modules Icon Study Plan: What is your overall mastery in the course? Check the study plan to see which objectives you still haven’t mastered and use the "View Your Progress" tab to see a chart of your overall mastery. Then, use the “practice” button to take a mini-homework and “quiz me” button to take a mini-quiz on that objective to earn mastery.

Learning Modules Icon Decision Making Cases: The Decision Making Cases associated with this book will allow you to gather patient data and make informed decisions about how to respond to a given real-life scenario. Your instructor may choose to use the Decision Making Cases as an in-class exercise and/or as homework assignments. If assigned for homework, the Decision Making Cases will be unlocked after you complete the Chapter Homework for the relevant chapters.
